VIETNAMESE FOLK ART OF A HAPPY BUDDHA'S FACE $170

Here we have a Happy Buddha's face in such a great laugh that it always makes me feel happy when I see it. That is why he is the deity of happiness, abundance, wisdom and contentment.

It is also hand carved from Mit wood and painted with traditional Vietnamese lacquer and silver leaf. Under the traditional lacquer, silver leaf becomes a gold color.

This Happy Buddha's face is ready to hang with a hook in the back, so you do not need to go to the hardware store which is cool, right!?

It's dimensions are 7"L x 9 1/2" W.

It is my family tradition to love with a passion, these unique handcrafted art objects which were created by local artisans throughout Southeast Asia, especially from my country-Vietnam. This family passion started with my grandfather, was passed down to my mother and her brothers, and on to me. It is the unique beauty of these folk objects, whether it is an antique, vintage, or even a relatively new object, which makes them special. They may not be polished or in perfect condition, they may have rust or dirt and the carving line might not be perfect, but when you take a good look, it is undeniable that each contain a special charm and personality that resonates from within. From the passage of time and from each line that the artist's hand designed, one of a kind objects where formed. However, maybe the most important feature of these handicraft objects is their link to the past. They were created in a language of a different time, passed down through the generation. In this age of mass production and factory readymades, this is a truly rare and wonderful thing.

Our collection was gathered throughout many years of traveling though southeast asia. They were collected from personal collection used in people homes for decoration or prayer, from buddhist temples, and from minority tribes of Vietnam.
